What if a solicitor brought me free food, beer or promised me something else of value to get my case?
Everyone likes to get something for free. But what are you really getting? Is a grocery store gift card really worth it when you risk being cheated on your case? Is getting a case of beer worth settling your case for possibly thousands of dollars less than what it is worth?This is a CRIME in most states! As an example, in Texas it is a 3rd degree Felony if a lawyer pays or gives or offers to pay or give a person money or anything of value to solicit employment.
